
Steve Pomerantz is a multiple award-winning editor with over 20 years experience in the fields of documentary, news, sports, reality and promo production.
He began his career working in broadcast journalism at CNN, before moving to NBC News. While at NBC, Steve was a recipient of the prestigious Silver Award from the Broadcast Designers Association for his work on the Games of the XXIV Olympiad. He was also awarded 2 “Golden Mic” Awards from the Los Angeles Radio and Television News Association. His long time collaboration with sports reporter/anchor Fred Roggin resulted in the creation of Roggin's wildly popular "Hall of Shame" and "Roggin's Heroes" segments.
Steve later teamed with acclaimed writer/producer Melissa Jo Peltier (The Dog Whisperer) on the A&E documentary “Titanic: The Legend Lives On”. The program was honored by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with Emmy Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Editing and Outstanding Achievement in Writing. Overall, Steve has received 12 Emmy Award nominations, taking home statuettes for Outstanding Achievement in Editing on 3 occasions.
In the late 1990's, Steve was among the first editors to work in the newly defined genre of reality television. His programs have been seen on NBC, CBS, CNN, PBS, Showtime, Fox, A&E, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Oxygen Network, Disney Channel, TLC, MTV, CourtTV and TruTV, among others.
Steve has expert level experience on the Avid Media Composer and the Avid Symphony online finishing system. He is also experienced with most AVX plug-ins, including Genarts Sapphire and Boris FX and Boris RED. His additonal skills include Adobe Photoshop and After Effects.
From 2003 until 2013, Steve also volunteered his time and talents creating promotional programs for his alma mater, California State University at Northridge. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Television Production from the University. Steve is particularly proud of his work with the Cal State Northridge Men's Basketball team. He photographed, wrote, produced and edited the Matadors season highlight videos for over a decade.
Steve was honored with the University's Volunteer Service Award for 2007.
Steve currently lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with his wife and two children, and is available for remote editing work nationwide.
